Water Aid - Bore Holes
Bore holes allow communities to maximise the water supply but to build it requires heavy machinery capable of digging into the ground as well as requiring advanced hydrogeological surveys to determine the best location for the borehole.
A highly complex system, a borehole is not just about digging a deep hole it requires a large water tank that can hold around 100,000 litres, site management, a generator/motor and separate water stations.
As you can imagine, to build such a construction requires time and finance. These are some of the people who require access to clean water the most and with your help we can continue our work providing the neediest with the very basic requirements of human life.
We have already been able to build over 10 boreholes across The Gambia; helping to change the lives for over 100,000 people.
How we manage each Project
Step 1
Identification of Need
We Identify locations/communities in desperate need for access for clean water
We also Identify the needs for the community to build a borehole that is appropriate in size to serve the communities demand for water.
Our team survey the area for the most appropriate location
Step 2
Construction
Plans are drawn and confirmed by the project manager and Donor
Quotation and Contractor Approval
Borehole dug and structures constructed
Step 3
Usage & Maintenance
Multiple lines also bought out to facilitate wider use within the community
Handover of facility to community leaders
Regular monitoring of facility usage.
